The Thompson Ecumenical Empowerment Group is a small social service agency helping to meet the needs of Northeastern Connecticut residents for over 27 years. TEEG’s mission is to strengthen the local community by Empowering individuals to live independently; Strengthening families to live respectfully; Engaging the community to work collaboratively; and Connecting resources to promote a better future for all.
The Thompson Public Library/Community Center is a 20,400 square foot facility. The collection consists of about 55,000 items — books, books on CD, DVDs & videotapes, music CDs, 90+ magazine & newspaper subscriptions, and access to various online resources.
The Thompson Recreation Department hosts a plethora of recreational offerings for both children and adults in the town, including (but not limited to): Community Day, summer Adventure Camp, senior activities, bus trips, and sports. The ultimate goal of the organization is “to enhance, promote, and support quality recreation facilities and opportunities for all residents of the community”.
Thompson is a unique town located in the northeast corner of Connecticut bordering Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In Thompson you will find many different villages with a variety of housing and a unique rural character with a beautiful country setting. Thompson is located 60 miles from Boston, Massachusetts, 50 miles from Hartford, Connecticut, 30 miles from Providence, Rhode Island, and 25 miles from Worcester, Massachusetts.
